We’ve received some concerned tweets, emails, and comments about our whereabouts and I just wanted to drop in and ease your minds. No, we aren’t dead, haven’t been laid off, or been abducted by aliens. We are still deeply entrenched where we’ve always been. But after nearly four straight years of working on the blog with very few days away, we’ve been on a bit of a hiatus. I promise we will be back soon with what the future holds for TNI.

I hope you guys will still be keeping the blog going! I for one really enjoy and appreciate all of the info you guys put out there.
Glad to see you guys are still alive.
After checking the site nearly everyday since late November it sure was a happy site to see a new post, however short, indicating you fine folks will be back in action.

So many news stories and you “disappear” and claim downtime?! You missed out on ALL the big news news. I’m back to Jayski!

I think we were most concerned because Journo wrote on 11/21, “TC and I will be off for the next week, but we’ll be back next Monday with our plans for the off-season and beyond.” but the only post since was one about a week later with no word on the future. I saw the tweets around the time of the Kurt Busch firing, but I would guess a lot of folks did not.
I think we all feel you are pretty great, and we’d really hate to lose you. I hope you have some way to monetize this venture so you can get some compensation as the professionals that you are.
Your post made my week. Thanks for all that you do, and I look forward to your commentary on what looks to be an interesting season.
You mention that you’ll be “back soon with what the future holds.”
It stuns me that you can come up with a new post every day, but I will tell you that if you posted once or twice a week, I wouldn’t be upset. Why? Because then we readers of the site could have more discussion of the issues. Now if you post something interesting, it’s gone in 2 or 3 days as other posts and discussions take over. I like your posts, but I also enjoy the discussion that you engender here – your readers are a savvy group with good things to say. You two could and should be part of those discussions, of course.
It was that ability to have longer discussions that made TRC’s blogs so good.
Glad to see that you weren’t abducted by aliens or leaving NASCAR for Indy car racing. Please come back…. I miss your perspectives about the sport.
I have missed your blogs and Q&A postings! However, I am glad you both took time for yourselves and both of you survived the silly season unscarred. I think this is going to be a crazy season in 2012 with so many changes already in place. Best wishes for a wonderful new year.

As a blogger, I completely understand and respect that the both of you are taking a hiatus. However two pieces of advice from this fellow blogger for the both of you.
1. After the season finale in Homestead, my advice would have been for you both to write a post with the headline “The 2011 NASCAR season is over and now we’re taking a hiatus, see you all in February 2012 at Daytona.” It can also double as a thank you post.
Everyone needs a vacation, but in most cases in the blogosphere, you should disclose it.
2. You might want to consider taking off the “NASCAR off season” every year to recharge your batteries or at least taking a few NASCAR Cup Series off weekends during the season so you don’t burn yourselves out and limit your NASCAR off season posts.

My guess is TC got laid-off. He has been busy trying to find a job. If he doesn’t find one, there will not be much inside information.
Wow, I’m surprised at all the bitching and ‘helpful’ suggestions on how this extended vacation should have been handled. This information is free, so there should be absolutely no expectations of new content every weekday. Furthermore, it’s your site, and you can do as you please.

Jeff: I will be on pit road this season changing tires just as I have been in the past. The hiatus was not due to a job loss.
Good to hear. That was my guess, as you have guys have been more diligent in past off-seasons. Keep up the good work! Remember, if you guys did not do such great work, we would not be upset that you are gone.
Goober, I saw precisely ONE complaint in the 20 posts before this one. As for the “helpful suggestions,” whether they are actually helpful is for TC and Journo to decide, isn’t it? They are totally free to ignore our comments, after all.
Now we go back to waiting for the next announcement!
No big deal, they did this last year too.
However, I remember them mentioning it in the final post for the season. Maybe next time do that for new readers.
I assumed you were going to take the offseason off.
They said they were gonna take a week or so off, they didn’t mention making us all go cold turkey with no new ‘insiders’ perspective!
