We’re hearing this afternoon that Mike Skinner has been let go from Randy Moss Motorsports. This ends a two year relationship.
We’re also hearing Travis Kvapil is the likely replacement for Skinner at RMM.
Skinner joined RMM at the beginning of the 2009 season after he lost his ride following the closure of Bill Davis Racing. The two found success together in their first year, winning three races and finishing third in the points.
2010 was a struggle though after the team lost Crew Chief Eric Phillips to Kyle Busch Motorsports. Skinner only had two top-fives and finished the year eighth in points. The team began the year with Gene Nead on top of the box, but the two parted ways early on in the season. Team engineer Stacy Johnson was named crew chief for the remainder of the year.
Kvapil’s last full season in the Truck Series was 2007 with Roush Fenway Racing. He spent 2010 driving for Front Row Motorsports in the Cup Series.
If we find out more we’ll let you know.
