The NASCAR Week That Was: May 2-8

Denny Hamlin pulled a Jimmie Johnson on Saturday and became the only other driver this season to score three wins. Hamlin made his way to victory lane at a wreck filled Southern 500 a day after winning the Nationwide Series race. In other news, Hendrick Motorsports announced this week that they re-signed crew chiefs Chad Knaus (through 2015) and Alan Gustafson (through 2014). Crew chief Steve Latarte, who also has a contract up, is still in negotiations. And finally Speedway Motorsports CFO Bill Brooks said this week that Kentucky Speedway may not get a Cup date next season. Brooks said the track has capital improvement projects that need to be done before realignment. This is the NASCAR week that was May 2 to 8, 2010.
