The NASCAR Week That Was: April 18-24

Last week it was driver changes, this week was sponsor changes. Kasey Kahne’s announced move to Hendrick Motorsports for the 2011 season, set off the yearly Silly Season. On Wednesday Richard Childress Racing announced Shell-Pennzoil would not return to the team next season. The company found a new home at Penske Racing, where team owner Roger Penske’s immense automotive empire appeared to help the deal along. In other news FoxSports reported late last week that Dale Earnhardt Jr. would make a return to the #3 car in the Nationwide Series at Daytona. Wrangler is expected to sponsor the effort. Earnhardt Jr. won two Nationwide Series championships in 1998 and 1999 driving the #3 Chevrolet. And finally rumors continue about the 2011 (and beyond) home of Budweiser. This week’s rumors include Michael Waltrip Racing and Richard Childress Racing. This is the NASCAR week that was April 18-24, 2010.
