The NASCAR Week That Was: April 11-17

The Silly Season began this week with the announcement that Kasey Kahne would join Hendrick Motorsports for 2011 despite them already having four teams. Team owner Rick Hendrick said he was currently looking for another home for Kahne one season until Mark Martin’s contract was up. In other news, in a surprising move JR Motorsports released Kelly Bires after just six races with the team. Team co-owner Kelley Earnhardt cited chemistry as the main reason for the driver change. And finally Mike Kelley was named crew chief for the #6 nationwide team of Ricky Stenhouse Jr. He replaces Ben Leslie who will take over as the director of competition for Roush Fenway’s Nationwide programs. This is the NASCAR week that was April 11 to 17, 2010.
