Your NASCAR Christmas Wish

Merry Christmas TNI readers! I hope your Christmas day is fantastic (and if you celebrate another holiday I hope it is/was great too!).

Since it’s Christmas and we’re all relaxing and enjoying our time off, we figured it would be good to keep it light around here. While it might be a little late to get your Christmas list off to Santa, we want to hear what your NASCAR Christmas wish is!

Maybe it’s a wish for next year or one for the long term in the sport. Do you hope there are improvements made to the COT? Any hopes for the open Truck Series date? How about plans for your favorite driver or team? Do you want to see Dale Jr. reemerge? It can be anything!

I know my NASCAR Christmas wish is to see a sport in 2010 that is more focused on the nuts and bolts and less on the other stuff that have no bearing on the product at hand. While things aren’t perfect, they really aren’t too bad.

I’m looking forward to seeing if we have a consistent competitor emerge against those Hendrick cars. I’m looking forward to seeing how Juan Pablo Montoya improves and Brad K. develops. I’m also very interested to see Danica Patrick going door to door with NASCAR’s best. I’m excited to see the Nationwide cars at Road America and excited to see where the Trucks turn up (though I’m sad things couldn’t be worked out at Milwaukee). And finally I’m wishing Daytona would get here a little sooner!

Now before you return to food, family, presents and 24 hours of A Christmas Story (don’t shoot your eye out) tell us what your NASCAR Christmas wish is. Enjoy!

My wishes for next year are:
No cup drivers in the lower series.

Brian France is removed as the head of Nascar.

    Dump the chase.

Jimmie Johnson becomes a Buddhist monk and moves to Tibet

    Mark Martin wins the championship.

My wishes for a happy 2010. Keep in mind that they are meant to be light-hearted, not serious.

1- A rivalry develops between Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon that turns ugly back in the Hendrick shops. Mark Martin sees this as an opportunity, and Alan Gustafson works with Chad Knaus (since the 48 is out of the running) to finally win Mark that championship he so richly deserves.

2- Three teams will merge into one three car team – #7 Robby Gordon Motorsports, #87 Nemco (Joe Nemechek) and #36 Tommy Baldwin Racing. As one team they are able to find enough sponsorship to not only run every week, but actually become semi-competitive.

3- The feud between #11 Denny Hamlin and #12 Brad Kesselowski continues into 2010 at full steam.

4- Sam Hornish Jr returns to the IRL. The number of on-track incidents are immediately cut in half.

5- Chevrolet and Toyota get their heads out of their butts and decide to run the Camaro and Solara in the Nationwide series to compete with the Mustang and Challenger.

6- Jeremy Mayfield is able to prove that he is clean and sober (and has been all along) and successfully defends himself in court. He then countersues Nascar and the lab and doctor who did the testing, winning a very large settlement for defamation of character, lost wages, mental anguish, and pain and suffering. In the fall, Brian France is arrested in Ormond Beach during a police sting operation for buying crystal meth.

    and finally…
6- #15/51 Billy Ballew Motorsports lands a quality sponsor, gives a new young driver (like maybe Michael McDowell?) a shot and wins the truck championship over both Kyle Bush’s and Kevin Harvick’s teams. Todd Bodine will finish second.
