Happy Halloween! Kyle Busch and his No. 18 team led the news this week as Joe Gibbs Racing announced they would replace crew chief Steve Addington. Dave Rogers, crew chief of the #20 Nationwide team, was named as his replacement. AJ Allmendinger and Michael Waltrip also made headlines for off track activities. Allmendinger was fined and placed on probation after being arrested for DWI early Thursday morning in Mooresville, North Carolina. Waltrip was involved in an accident, also in Mooresville, last Wednesday night. Police said alcohol played a role. And finally NASCAR said this weekend they plan changes to the COT after meeting with drivers and team officials last week. This is the NASCAR week that was October 25 to 31, 2009.

You mentioned that A.J. was fined & placed on probation for his DWI. You should clarify that the fine and probation until 12-31-10 was from Richard Petty. NASCAR placed him on probation until the end of 2009. A.J. & Petty both issued statements regarding this incident.
Michael Waltrip has issued no statement, not placed on probation by NASCAR even though this is the second time in less than two years that Waltrip has run afoul of the law. Don’t forget that he left the scene of the accident in 2008. No penalty of that either.
Mary- As it is every week, this post is a recap of the weeks news, all of which was factually correct (which you verify in your response). My intention is to write a quick paragraph and link to some interesting stories, not to have a wide ranging analysis. That stuff is irrelevant, AJ was fined and placed on probation, that’s all that needed to be said.
