The NASCAR Week That Was: Sept. 27- Oct. 3

It was a slow news week this week as we headed into the third race of the Chase at Kansas. In one of the more interesting pairings in sports, it was announced this week that George Gillett and Saudi Prince Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdullah al-Saud, had, among other things, entered into an agreement to begin developing a stock car series in the Middle East. Gillett said this weekend, the investment of Prince Faisal’s F6 in RPM is only in the discussion stage and if it occurred would not include a majority of the team. In other news, speculation continued about the future of the #07 at Richard Childress Racing. Paul Menard, who was one of the drivers rumored to the ride, denied he would take the seat in 2010. And finally the AP confirmed this week celebrity attorney Mark Geragos was close to finalizing a deal to take up Jeremy Mayfield’s case against NASCAR. Mayfield had been represented by Charlotte law firm James McElroy & Diehl. This is the NASCAR week that was September 27 to October 3, 2009.
