The NASCAR Week That Was: Aug. 30-Sept. 5

Just two races until the Chase for the Sprint Cup begins, and NASCAR has a weekend of firsts across all three series. The trucks raced their inaugural event at Iowa Speedway on Saturday and the Cup and Nationwide series made their way to Atlanta on a Labor Day weekend for the first time. Bobby Labonte and Hall of Fame Racing led the news this week after Labonte was replaced for seven races this season by Erik Darnell. Labonte will race this weekend with TRG Motorsports. The other big news this week came out of Penske Racing where the team officially announced Brad Keselowski’s anticipated move to the #12 next season. And finally is Danica Patrick going NASCAR racing next year? ESPN reports Patrick is looking at running select Nationwide, Truck and ARCA events next season in preparation for a full-time move to NASCAR. According to the report Patrick would also run a full IndyCar season in 2010. This is the NASCAR week that was August 30 to September 5, 2009.
