Re: 55 blue rotors. You must have been looking at the left front. The right front glows yellow. It's a Napa thing.

I'm hoping because I am a mere fan, I am allowed to speculate on the Bill Weber thing.

There are reports on Wikipedia that there was an unfortunate incident of sorts regarding Weber's actions at his hotel.

That's all I got. Wikipedia is also unsure if Weber will be back in the booth or if he's gone for good:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Weber#NBC_Sports_and_Turner_Sports

Quote:
In 2009, while in New Hampshire to cover the NASCAR Sprint Cup race, Weber was suspended by TNT and was not allowed to call the race or appear on the air. TNT senior vice president Sal Petruzzi stated: “As this is a private issue, it’s the policy of the company not to discuss personal matters involving our employees.”[1] Other reports, however, indicate that Weber got into a loud confrontation in his hotel lobby regarding complaints about his hotel room.[2] Tom Bowles from SI.com and Frontstretch.com reported that TNT will replace Bill Weber again on Saturday night at Daytona International Speedway for the broadcast of the Coke Zero 400, but other sources indicated that the report was false.[3]

in re: question #5 (about the 55 car's blue rotors): i believe in understood from larry mac during the race broadcast that it was a case of a different material being used by that team. i don't think larry mac had more information i.e. what that material might have been or why the 55 was using it (cost? advantage?)

in re: question #4 (about gas from the gas can vs. a tank with a hose): might that also have to do with the gas can being weighed after the pitstop and that info being part of the calculation of how much gas was actually loaded and, by extension, how many laps the car can run before needing to re-fuel? might be too hard to weigh a gas tank? also, the teams have to refill the gas cans thru out the race from specified (and monitored) pumps and so nascar can control WHAT goes into those gas cans. every race i've been to, there's been an official or two at the pumps. just pondering . . .

@journo: thank you for not speculating in re: weber. that's real professionalism!
