Kyle busch has taken quite a bit of heat regarding the restart wreck.
If he lifts for Truax, what are the odds that all 30 guys behind him lift and magically avoid the big wreck?

As far as TV goes, TNT is the best so far. FOX was a four-hour commercial for Digger. ESPN is full of "pre-game" as Punch calls it. The best thing they can do for that broadcast is take Punch and put Bestwick, a TV vet in. maybe he will realize that it is a pre-race show.

And to Dianne, there shouldn't be much difference between ESPN and ABC, as they are the exact same. I may have misunderstood your question though.

Deuce: They have used both Dodge and Chevrolet cars throughout the season, but the difference is they are not a factory backed team. They normally use Dodges when they start-and-park, and Chevrolets when they are going to run the whole distance, like with Brad Keselowski.

Hasn't the 09 team used both Dodge and Chevy engines this season depending on the track?

Another response for question 13 regarding manufacturer changes:

After reading one of today's questions, I thought of a few mid-season manufacturer changes. All the ones I remembered were from the early 1990s and mostly mid-pack teams.

In 1990, Morgan-McClure Motorsports and Ernie Irvan switched from Olds to Chevrolet at Talladega. It seems like there were a lot in 1992. Terry Labonte and the #94 Sunoco car switched throughout the season between Olds, Chevy and Ford. Ted Musgrave did the same in the #55 Jasper Engines car, adding Pontiac to their mix. Late that season, Bobby Allison's #12 Raybestos team switched from Chevy to Ford and the Tri-Star Motorsports #68 Country Time team went from Olds to Ford.

I don't recall any of the major teams making a mid-season change, but it seems like in the late 1970s and early 1980s that several GM-affiliated teams ran Oldsmobiles or Buicks on the superspeedways and Chevrolets at the other tracks, due to aerodynamics.

Those were from reader Fred via email...

Yes, a switch in manufacturers has been done in the "modern era" (1972 - present). Richard Petty switched from Dodge to Chevy after 19 of 30 races in the 1978 season. Also, way back in 1959, Richard's dad, Lee, switched from Oldsmobile to Plymouth in the middle of the 1959 season (and Lee had won the inaugaral Daytona 500 in an Olds that year).

SearPointer-Next year I "will" make the trek to Sonoma for Atl and get all the insiders info from you.

West Coast Kenny-I have to agree 100% w/ ya here. Kyle and Wally and the coverage was excellent. I liked the small tiff between Larry Mac and Wally about fuel mileage on oval vs road course. Neither would budge and that was good stuff.

In general, drivers do a pretty good job of putting you in the drivers seat. I like DW and he is good at announcing...usually. It's when he "tries" to be funny that's what makes him less credible. Just let is happen naturally. Same w/ baby bro MW. At least we don't have to hear "Boggity, boggity, boggity...let's go racin' boys" for a while.

For the first time I am more impressed with TNT than Fox. The coverage is great, and the talking heads are just sticking with basic, good racing coverage. I prefer that over Digger any day.

Thhat being said, this will be my last comment for awhile, I am heading to southern Louisiana to help my grandpa out and will not have internet access. I won't even be able to watch the races!!! See ya when I get back boys, it's been fun.

To Diane,

Regarding the "no-nothing broadcasters..." I'm sure you know a lot more about NASCAR than Wally Dallenbach, Jr. and Kyle Petty. After all, Dallenbach only drove 228 NASCAR Winston Cup races and Petty only drove 846. By the way, how many races did you drive?

I guess those morons at TNT went out of their way to hire the stupidest announcers with more than 1,074 NASCAR races worth of experience.

#15: I'll take the TNT coverage over Fox any day! It kind of hurts me to say that, as I really used to like the Fox guys and thought that NBC/TNT suffered greatly after BP passed away. But these days, Kyle Petty is actually a good addition to the TNT crew, and, much more importantly, TNT seems to care about the *racing* rather than the entertainment. Fox is too busy trying to transcend NASCAR, rather than simply presenting it (as should be their job).

On a different note: seeing the last 30 laps of the Sonoma race live in turn 7 made my day. So much action, so much fun, and not too many cautions to ruin it all. Really, really great!
