One week down in Charlotte, one to go. News of Jeremy Mayfield, drug testing, and NASCAR’s refusal to give more information led the week following the sanctioning body’s announcement at Darlington that the driver had failed a random drug test. Mayfield maintains the negative results occurred after he mixed Claritan-D and another prescription medication. In other news Jeff Burton’s #31 team won the Sprint Pit Crew Challenge in 22.115 seconds, breaking the previous record. And finally Tony Stewart won the Sprint All-Star Challenge, giving his team their first win and becoming only the second owner/driver in All-Star race history to win the race. This is the NASCAR week that was May 10 to 16, 2009.
