The biggest news of the week came Saturday evening as NASCAR announced Sprint Cup Series driver Jeremy Mayfield had been indefinitely suspended for failing a drug test given at Richmond last week. NASCAR refused to reveal the drug Mayfield tested positive for. Mayfield said in a statement he believes it was the combination of a prescribed drug and over the counter medication. In other news, former Nationwide Series driver Kevin Grubb died in an apparent suicide in a Richmond area hotel Wednesday. The driver was indefinitely suspended in 2006 after failing a drug test. And finally Mark Martin announced this week he would compete full time for Hendrick Motorsports in 2010. This is the NASCAR week that was May 3 to 9, 2009.
