Speculation about the future of AJ Allmendinger and Kasey Kahne ended this week as both committed to Richard Petty Motorsports through the end of next season. There had been reports Joe Gibbs Racing inquired about the status of Allmendinger. In other racing news IRL star Helio Castroneves was acquitted of federal tax evasion charges this week. After six days of deliberations, a jury found Castroneves, his sister and prominent motorsports attorney Alan Miller not guilty. The jury deadlocked on one charge of conspiracy against Castroneves. This is the NASCAR week that was April 12 to 18, 2009.
