The NASCAR Week That Was: April 5-11

Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing again made headlines this week after shutting down the #8 team, a move reminiscent of the #40 team shut down just less than one year ago. ESPN reported 40 to 50 had been laid off; we heard that number was closer to 20. In other news Richard Petty Motorsports secured sponsorship for the #44 car and AJ Allmendinger to run through September. The driver currently sits 20th in points. Finally Richard Petty made news this week announcing he would back a ride for John Andretti in the Indianapolis 500 later this summer. It marks Petty’s first foray into the Indy Racing League. This is the NASCAR week that was April 5 to 11, 2009.
