I can’t believe it. Today, April 9th, 2009 is the first birthday for TNI. It seems like it was just yesterday that we were putting our first couple of posts up and hoping that a few folks would somehow find us and stop by. Now, one year later we’ve written 354 posts and are approaching 1,600 comments, and we don’t plan on quitting any time soon.
Just to give you a little perspective on how far we’ve come since day one, I’ll give you a little site traffic comparison. For the month of April 2008 (our first month) we had just a little over 1,100 visits. We were stoked. But yesterday alone, we exceeded 1,500 visits for the day. And it’s all thanks to you.
In my very first post on the site, I wrote the following about what our direction for the blog was going to be:
On a regular basis we are going to offer our experiences, some commentary, and even a little inside info about what really goes on in the pits and in the shop. We are going to use this blog to give race fans and any other interested readers a window into NASCAR like you may have never seen. We will cover topics ranging from news and rumors, to driver development, technical explanations, the business of NASCAR, and a lot more.
After reading back over that, I’d like to think we’ve done exactly what we said we would. We’ve certainly worked very hard to bring our readers news, commentary, and explanations all from an insider’s perspective. And we haven’t been afraid to ruffle and few feathers along the way.
Going forward, we are going to continue with what has worked and keep bringing you more of what you want. And we hope that you, the readers, will continue with your own comments and questions. You are why we decided to do this project in the first place, and you are why it continues to be a fun experience every day. So a big thanks goes out to everyone that has linked to us and is a subscriber, visitor, commenter, and/or emailer. Here’s to another year! – T.C.
———————————————
It has been one year since we first began bringing you The Nascar Insiders and wow has it been a ride.
When we set out last year to get this project off the ground we knew we had to keep our expectations in check. T.C. did a great job from the very beginning promoting the site. He plugged us in very early with everything we could think of. But building a following over night is not easy, or so we thought.
In June I wrote a post about layoffs at MWR and statements they were making which ultimately turned out to be misleading. After it sat around for a couple of days, Jayski picked it up and well, the rest is history. We went from 99 visits on June 8 to over 5000 visits on June 9. The site crashed the server and the fine folks at our hosting company weren’t thrilled with us. Luckily we don’t have to worry about that happening again (the site crashing that is).
While that post has been both a blessing and a curse, it helped expose us to a ton of new people. Since that time we have had more than 121,000 unique visitors, 252,000 visits and 613,000 page views.
We both look at the numbers and are surprised about where we are at today. The crazy thing is we haven’t even scratched the surface. Ultimately though where we are and where we are going is because of you all who come back and comment and make this site a living, breathing thing.
It is also because of you that we have had so much fun doing this. Getting to interact with people who love this sport just as much as we do is a blast everyday. I know we haven’t always agreed with each other, but that’s half the fun.
When we first started here we vowed to bring you news, rumors, and commentary from an inside perspective. I think (and hope) we have done a pretty good job of fulfilling that week in and week out.
As we move through this season and into next I look forward to spending another year (and beyond) with you. Thanks for all your support! – Journo

I always make TNI a daily stop. My day would not be complete without it!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday TNI! Thanks for the cyber-podium and awesome format. IMHO your timing for implementation of this site was spot on. Seems like last year, more than most previous, 2008 was definitely a year of change in NASCAR. With so many topics of ups (new teams) and downs (economy & layoffs) there were plenty stories to comment on. Moving forward, your readers should continue to keep those questions and comments flowing….
THANKS for everything guys, this is one of my first stops daily. Love the info and the perspectives you bring. Keep going!
Happy Birthday TNI!!!! I have enjoyed this first year. I visit the site everyday and look forward to many future years of doing the same.
Congratulations! You guys offer a perspective that no one else can. Your blog stats are phenomenal, but it’s because you guys are just plain fun to read. The Wednesday “Ask the Insiders” is something I look forward to each week!
Here’s to many more years, many more posts and continued growth in readership! : )
TNI is usually my first or second stop as soon as I arrive at work. I also check back throughout the day for updated comments. My boss thanks you from the bottom of her heart insiders for my decreased productivity on her dime. Here’s to another year of goofing off at work guys. Cheers.
Great site. Congrats and THANKS!
Congratulations on your first year, guys! You’re definitely one of the better parts of my daily routine. Keep it up!
You both deserve every success. TNI is indispensible. Thank you for your patience and generosity.

Kudos to a job well done!
Congratulations! Keep up the great work!
I always enjoy your commentary. I appreciate that y’all have been able to remain anonymous, which gives you the ability to express your opinions without someone “watching over your shoulder” from the “corporate” side of things.
Keep it Up!
