NASCAR’s Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series’ made their way to Thunder Valley this week after a rare break in the schedule. Bloomberg News reported this week, Speedway Motorsports Inc.’s President and Chief Operating Officer Marcus Smith may not have received degree from the University of North Carolina. Smith, son of SMI chairman Bruton Smith, said he was “checking with the University.” In other news Tommy Baldwin Racing picked up a co-owner this past week. Gary Bechtel, a former owner in his own right, joins the team that is struggling right now. Also this week Anheuser Busch ended their 30 year sponsorship of NHRA driver Kenny Bernstein, leaving many to wonder if the same cuts may be coming to their NASCAR sponsorships. This is the NASCAR week that was March 15 to 21, 2009.
