Randy Moss Motorsports Cuts Salaries

As another sign of the times, we heard over the weekend Randy Moss Motorsports cut all employee salaries by upwards of 35 percent.

According to our sources, to make matters worse, many employees were not notified of the move until after their paycheck arrived; for most that wasn’t until they were already in California. Needless to say there are some very hurt and angry individuals within the organization.

After struggling with drivers and sponsorships the last two seasons the former Morgan Dollar Motorsports and team owner David Dollar joined forces in July with Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss. The team lined up rookie Tayler Malsam and veteran Mike Skinner, both of whom were at Bill Davis Racing last season, for their 2009 campaign.

RMM is not the first team to make salary cuts. When Yates Racing formed its alliance with Roush Fenway prior to last season they made similar cuts to the salaries of employees who elected to stay on.

Likewise we heard earlier this year the newly merged Earnhardt Ganassi Racing made salary cuts. No word how large the cuts were.

As TC and I have discussed many times before, team chemistry is vital for on track success. When something like this occurs, chemistry often falters and it may very well hurt RMM, which looks primed to be competitive for both a driver’s championship and rookie of the year championship.

I know adjustments must be made in tough climates, but are the New England Patriots cutting salaries 35%?
Makes you wonder if RMM perasonel has to find their own way home from West Coast swing!

This is just sad! Especially since the employees were not given a warning that this will happen. A 35% cut off the salary is a lot and I am sure they are finding it hard to manage their way around it. However, I somehow understand that Randy Moss Motorsports need to cut back so that his business can stay alive. It’s either that or laying off people right. So I guess it is all about choosing the lesser evil.
