The NASCAR Week That Was: Dec. 15-20

We now are less then two months away from the start of the 2009 NASCAR season.  Another busy week saw Gillett-Evernham lay off 65 employees, and rumors continued to swirl about the on again, off again merger with Petty Enterprises.  Robby Gordon’s #7 will be a Toyota next season, and with that he has now driven for every manufacturer as a team owner.  Chip Bolin was one and done as crew chief for Matt Kenseth, as Drew Blickensderfer has been promoted from the Roush NNS program to lead the DeWalt team.  Late in the week we learned Mansfield Motorsports park will not host a Truck Series race in ‘09 and that it would be closing down.  Iowa Speedway has been added to the schedule in its place.  It was also announced that NASCAR had settled the lawsuit with former NASCAR official Mauricia Grant, who was suing them for $225 million for alledged discrimination and sexual harassment.  This is the NASCAR week that was December 15-20, 2008.
