The NASCAR Week That Was: Nov. 2-8

With just two weeks until NASCAR crowns its champion talk of the economy and mergers dominated the week. The newest merger rumor brings together Dale Earnhardt Inc. and Chip Ganassi Racing in a deal that would reportedly have the team switch to Chevrolet. Team owner Chip Ganassi refused to be specific on the deal this weekend, only saying that some of the things coming out were based in fact, while other stuff wasn’t. Elsewhere from around the sport, Ray Evernham told ESPN this week that he was working to sell his remaining interest in Gillett Evernham Motorsports. Evernham sold 80% of his team to Montreal Canadiens owner George Gillett last year. This is the NASCAR week that was, November 2 to 8, 2008.

Ganassi notes the uncertainty, but won’t talk specifics
