This weekend marks the beginning of the end for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series as the field for the Chase is locked up. Despite the race being delayed by (what used to be) Hurricane Hanna, racing will continue Sunday. This week brought news that Robby Gordon was being sued Gillett Evernham Motorsports for what they claimed was breach of contract. The suit brings to light a deal that would have had GEM purchasing Gordon’s team, and giving him a contract to drive among other things. In other news, it was announced that Dario Franchitti would return to the Indy Racing League driving for Chip Ganassi Racing. And finally one of the last available rides was closed up as David Stremme was announced as the driver of the #12 Alltel Dodge for Penske Racing. This is the NASCAR Week That Was, August 31 to September 6, 2008.
