All-Star Friday Observations
Written by T.C. on May 16th, 2008I just wanted to take a minute to share a few observations from Friday’s activities at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
- I really enjoy the pit stops during All-Star qualifying. Its cool that it gets us crew guys involved in the process and it makes it a lot more interesting, especially with the drivers getting on and off pit road.
- The yellow retaining walls still throw me a little bit.
- There were like a million people in the garage areas and on pit road today, I felt like it was the Daytona 500.
- It was great to see Matt Crafton get his first win in the Truck Series. He still holds the record for most starts without a win, but at least now the streak won’t continue.
- The crowd turnout was disappointing to say the least. I really thought that All-Star qualifying and an always eventful truck race would draw more, but I guess the economy and high gas prices are really starting to hurt.
That’s it for now. With the format of the All-Star race and the money on the line, it should be interesting tomorrow. Enjoy the race!
